Getting Started

Follow these steps to set up Viniyo and start tracking applications from day one.

Sign in with Google or Sign in with Apple

Viniyo uses secure, passwordless authentication. On the login screen, tap Sign in with Google or Sign in with Apple, choose your Google or Apple account, and you'll be taken directly into the app. Your session is encrypted and stored on-device — you stay signed in across app restarts.

No separate username or password is required. Your Google or Apple account is all you need.

Add your first job

Tap the + button from any screen to open the Add Job form. Fill in:

  • Company name and position
  • Work mode — Remote, Onsite, or Hybrid
  • Date applied and application status
  • Salary range (optional)
  • Follow-up reminder in days (default: 7)

Viniyo's AI will automatically detect the job family and assign the right interview stage template.

My Jobs

A filterable, searchable list of every application you've tracked. Each card shows:

  • Company, role, location, and salary range
  • Current interview stage with a colour-coded badge
  • Days since application (business days)
  • Work mode tag — Remote, Onsite, or Hybrid
  • Date applied

Filter by status, work mode, or date range using the chips at the top. On tablets, the view automatically switches to a grid layout.

  • Total applications, last 10 days, final round, offers, and rejections

  • Position and location breakdowns

Follow-up Reminders & Action Required

Viniyo keeps your pipeline active with two intelligent alert systems so no opportunity slips through the cracks:

  • Follow-up Reminders — applications past their reminder deadline appear with a colour-coded days-overdue badge. Tap the mail icon to send a follow-up directly from the app.
  • Action Required — scheduled interviews or stages not yet updated are flagged with the date they were due. Tap Update to record the outcome.
  • Overdue indicators — each card shows the company, current stage, and exact days overdue so you can prioritise at a glance.
You can configure the follow-up reminder window per application (default: 7 days) when adding or editing a job.

Smart Topics

Viniyo's Smart Topics feature generates a personalised interview preparation checklist tailored to your upcoming interview's role, level, and stage.

  • Role-specific topics — preparation items are automatically tailored to the job family and seniority level, so you focus on what actually matters for that interview.
  • Stage-aware — topics adapt to the interview type (e.g. Behavioural, Phone Screen, System Design) so preparation is always relevant.
  • New Topics — tap to regenerate a fresh set of preparation topics at any time.
Smart Topics is accessible directly from the Upcoming Interviews card on your Dashboard.

Import from CSV / Excel

Add multiple job applications at once by importing directly from a CSV or Excel file — no manual entry required.

  • Bulk import — bring in your entire existing job list from a spreadsheet in a single step.
  • CSV & Excel support — works with both .csv and .xlsx file formats.
  • Accessible from My Jobs — tap the ⋯ menu in the top-right corner of My Jobs, then select Import from csv/excel.
  • Select mode — use the Select option from the same menu to bulk-manage or delete existing entries.
Ensure your spreadsheet columns match the expected format (company, position, status, date applied) for a smooth import.

Analytics

Deep-dive into your job search performance with self-improving insights:

  • Health score — an overall pipeline rating (0–100)
  • Response rate — percentage of applications that got a reply
  • Interview rate — applications that reached interview stage
  • Velocity — applications per week
  • Pipeline funnel — stage-by-stage breakdown
  • 7-day activity — recent momentum chart

Alerts & Notifications

The Alerts tab keeps your applications from going cold. It shows:

  • Follow-up reminders — applications past their reminder deadline, shown with days overdue
  • Action Required — interviews or stages scheduled that need a status update
  • Swipe to dismiss — swipe left on any notification card to delete it from your list.

Each reminder card shows the company, role, current stage, date applied, and how many days overdue the follow-up is.

You can configure the follow-up reminder window (default 7 days) per application when adding or editing a job.

AI Insights

Viniyo uses GPT-powered analysis to surface patterns and recommendations you might miss:

  • Offer and time-to-offer analysis with negotiation tips
  • Stage pattern detection — identifying where you're strongest
  • Reflective prompts to help you grow between applications
  • Coaching cards with confidence ratings
  • Location breakdown — where your applications are concentrated

Insights refresh as you add or update applications. All AI features include fallback mechanisms if service limits are reached.

Settings

Customise Viniyo to suit your workflow:

  • Theme — Light, Dark, or Auto (follows system setting)
  • Face ID / Biometric login — enable secure Face ID or fingerprint authentication for quick, password-free access
  • Application targets — set and edit your weekly application goals; monthly targets are auto-calculated
  • Preferred display name — update the name shown throughout the app
  • Domicile country — set your country for localised defaults
  • Sign out — invalidates your session immediately

Quick answers to the most common questions about Viniyo.

Viniyo uses Google OAuth — there is no separate username or password. On the login screen, tap Sign in with Google, select your account, and you'll enter the app. Your encrypted session token is stored on-device using Expo Secure Store.
When you add a job, Viniyo sends the job title to its AI layer, which categorises the role into one of six families (Software Engineer, Data Scientist, Accountant, Hardware Engineer, Administrative Assistant, or Product Manager). The matching stage template is assigned automatically. You can edit or add stages at any time.
Yes. The six templates are a starting point — you can add, rename, or delete any stage from the job details screen. If the AI can't match your role confidently, it falls back gracefully and lets you configure stages manually.
Viniyo calculates age in business days, excluding Saturdays and Sundays. Public holidays are not currently excluded. This gives a more realistic read of how long a role has been active from a recruiter's perspective.
Open the Analytics tab (bottom navigation). Scroll past the metrics cards to find the Insights and Coaching sections. These update automatically as you add or update applications.
Go to Settings → Theme and choose Light, Dark, or Auto. Auto follows your device's system appearance setting and switches automatically.
Go to Settings → Export → Export as CSV. The file is saved to your device's downloads folder and can be opened in Excel, Google Sheets, or any spreadsheet app. It includes all fields: company, title, stage, salary, work mode, date applied, and stage history.
When you add a job, you can set a follow-up reminder window in days (default: 7). Once that period passes without a stage update, the application appears in the Alerts tab under Follow-up Reminders with an overdue count. Tap the email icon on any reminder card to compose a follow-up message.
Yes. Authentication is handled via Google OAuth and session tokens are stored using Expo Secure Store — hardware-backed encrypted storage on iOS and Android. Your application data is stored in a private MongoDB database and is accessible only via your authenticated session. Sign out at any time from Settings to immediately invalidate your session.
Yes. Viniyo detects your screen size and automatically switches the My Jobs screen to a grid layout on tablets for better use of the available space. All other screens are fully responsive for both phone and tablet viewports.
